Financial Secretary
Laura DeLong

After living in several places around the country, Laura came to Des Moines for three to five years, and that was 29 years ago!  Des Moines turns out to be a very good place to “get stuck.”  She is a member of Ashworth Road Baptist Church where she is active in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. When the holiday season approaches, she enjoys lending an extra pair of hands in production at Chocolaterie Stam. She has sung in various community choirs for 20 years, and enjoys garment sewing.  Laura produces the newsletter for the Central Iowa chapter of the American Sewing Guild.  Laura is particularly thankful for the opportunity to help support DMARC’s interfaith work.

Communications/Office Manager
Terri Speirs

Terri is pleased to serve the Des Moines Area Religious Council. Faith makes sense to her when it moves the faithful to address basic human needs. She is incredibly inspired by working with the staff and volunteers of the DMARC Food Pantry Network. She's writing a memoir about illness and healing, authority and submission, faith and doubt. While she and her family have lived in New York City, Baltimore, and St. Paul—they are happily settled in Des Moines, where her husband, Bob, serves as associate pastor at St. John's Lutheran Church downtown.
